The Battle Over Abortion Abortion is very controversial because it involves many issues, for example: When does life begin? Is quantity of life more important that quality? Or some people ask, is abortion murder? There are two main sides to this debate, thereââ¬â¢s Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. The name Pro-Choice is given to those who believe abortion should be legal. One of the main Pro-Choice groups is The National Abortion Campaign. The name Pro-Life is given to opponents of abortion. The two main Pro-Life groups in the UK and Ireland are the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children and LIFE. P ro-Choice believe that it is a womanââ¬â¢s right to decide what to do if she is pregnant andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦And that a human being exists from the moment of conception. This means that a single cells formed at conception has the potential to develop through all stages of a human lifespan. A lthough the word abortion is not mentioned in the bible, there are many references to support the belief that the unborn child is a living person and deserves the rights and respect for all human beings. Genesis 1:27 ââ¬Å"So God created human beings, in his own image.â⬠Psalm 139:13-16 ââ¬Å"You created every part of me; you put me in my motherââ¬â¢s womb. I praise you because you are to be feared; all you do is strange and wonderful. I know it with all my heart. When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my motherââ¬â¢s womb. When I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there ââ¬â you saw me before I was born.â⬠Then ultimately, if it is accepted that the unborn child is human, there is the sixth commandment: ââ¬Å"Thou shalt not kill.â⬠T Here are certain basic facts about this issue that all Christian churches can agree with.
